Learn more about the legendary King Richard the Lionheart!
Richard I – also known as “The Lionheart” – was King of England from 1189 until his death. In both legends and stories, he is considered the embodiment of a wise, good, and greatly chivalrous king, which is why – despite his short reign and lifespan – many legends are attributed to him. His enemies gave him the name “Richard the Lionheart” during the Third Crusade, where he gained the highest respect as a bold knight with a relentless fighting spirit.
For the first time, the exhibit in the nearby Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Speyer is displaying the life and work of the legendary king, who is also one of the most famous war prisoners in the history of the world. Marvel at over 150 unique exhibits from museums and libraries in Germany, England, France, Austria, and Switzerland – including precious manuscripts, reliquaries, and impressive sculptures and weapons.
At the TECHNIK MUSEUM SPEYER, in addition to the largest aerospace in Europe, you can expect to discover a variety of vehicles such as motorbikes and vintage cars as well as thousands of other exhibits, including mechanical musical instruments, aeroplanes, and locomotives.
